Moon After Daguerre, 2017, digital photograph on 23" screen.
Louis Daguerre—one of the inventors of photography—made the first ever photograph of the Moon from his rooftop in Paris in 1838. Daguerre's daguerreotype was destroyed in a studio fire in 1839.
I decided to reconstruct Daguerre's photograph in my studio in 2017. This work was presented for 15 minutes on May 23, 2017 in Melbourne, Australia.
